Dominican Republic

August 2-8, 2025

At the heart of our mission work are relationships, and like any meaningful relationship, in-person connection is key. Through our partnership with 410 Bridge, we are committed to transforming both the spiritual and physical well-being of communities in the developing world. 410 Bridge is dedicated to accelerating growth in these areas by empowering local churches to lead healthy, sustainable lives through education. Their approach focuses on raising up indigenous leaders from rural, impoverished communities—leaders who can assess local needs and develop strategic plans for long-term improvement. Their work spans five key areas: water, health, education, economic development, and discipleship.

St. Hilary's global mission trips will play a vital role in deepening relationships, serving communities, and collaborating on life-changing projects. August, 2025 we took a team of 10 missionaries on our first global mission trip with a focus on education & youth.

Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic

From August 2–8, St. Hilary’s Catholic Church embarked on its first-ever global mission trip to the Dominican Republic, where parishioners encountered Christ in profound and unexpected ways. The week was rooted in prayer, reflection and Spanish Mass, which gave the team strength and renewal as they served. Brooke shared how the Lord rekindled her love for the Eucharist and renewed her vocation as a teacher, especially through a moving experience with a young boy named Andreas who was eager to learn how to write numbers. Helping him discover new skills reminded her of the beauty of patient teaching and stirred a deep joy in her heart. For Brooke, the trip was a journey of renewal—of faith, community, and calling—that left a lasting mark on her life.

Jackie also reflected on how the mission trip was an opportunity to live out Jesus’ command to “love God and love our neighbor,” whether that neighbor was across the street or thousands of miles away. She used her math skills to teach children in the classroom, rejoiced in moments of laughter and play, and comforted a small boy who was consoled simply by sitting in her lap. She also met families in their homes and listened compassionately to children like JJ, who bravely shared her struggles. Jackie described each encounter as meeting Jesus; in joy, in suffering, and in community.

By the end of the week, what began as a group of strangers became a family of faith, bound together by shared service and God’s love. Both Brooke’s and Jackie’s experiences remind us that mission work is not only about what we give, but also about the renewal, joy, and transformation the Lord brings to us in the process.
