St. Vincent de Paul Society
Help neighbors in need
One week a month
Members of the St. Hilary Conference of St. Vincent de Paul meet in person with neighbors in need: listening, helping find solutions, giving financial help with rent, utilities and food, and praying with them. Our focus is keeping families within the parish from losing their homes after an emergency, such as a medical bill, a car repair or lost work.

What members do
- Attend a monthly Conference meeting at the Rectory.
- With another member, take calls one week a month (about one call a week) from the countywide help line or the rectory.
- Visit the family at home to understand their needs, and offer solutions, including help from the St. Hilary SVDP Fifth Sunday Collection. For larger needs, work with the Homeless Prevention Director at the SVDP offices in San Rafael.
- Attend the annual spiritual and training conference for Marin County SVDP volunteers.
Founded in 1833, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide organization of lay Catholics following Christ’s call to serve the poor and the suffering. See vinnies.org for its work across Marin.
