Help the Children of Guatemala

A happy new year from the Guatemala Mission group, a consortium of Catholic churches and parishes in Marin reaching out to the poor children of Guatemala whom we have supported before. You might remember a few years ago we purchased cribs and beds for children at the mission who were sleeping on the floor. Our parish also pays the salary for one teacher at the school! There is a great need for slightly used children’s clothing. For boys the need is for shoes, pants, and shirts. For girls the need is greatest for shoes and sweaters. Blankets are also badly needed!

Many of these children are orphans from the recent hurricane Stan.

Please place your donated items in the barrels located on the right as you enter church. Thank you and God bless you!

SAVE DARFUR

You will notice a banner outside church calling your attention to the SAVE DARFUR coalition’s mission to raise public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and to mobilize a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of two million people.

SAVE DARFUR is an alliance of over 170 faith-based, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. The Coalition’s member organizations represent 130 million people of all ages, races, religions and political affiliations united together to help the people of Darfur.

Whistlestop is looking for volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors in Marin. Volunteers pick up the meals in the late morning and delivery only takes about an hour and a half. If you are interested, please call Whistlestop at 456-9062 - ext. 134. Thank You!

Parents of Infants and Toddlers… The Sunday Friends Co-Op is open during the 9AM Sunday Masses. For those of you new to the parish or new to parenthood, the Co-op allows parents to relax and enjoy the mass while their young children (ages 6 months to 3 years) play under the supervision of other caring parents. The only requirement in addition to registering is that parents who use the Co-op sign up to work for a group of Sundays during the year. Depending on the number of parents participating, this typically works out to one Sunday per month.
For those of you interested in participating, please let us know either by visiting us in the day care classroom or by calling Lisa Hovan at 672-1037 or email lhovan@hovancapital.com .

The Tiburon Thrift Shop

Hats off to the volunteers for the Tiburon Thrift Shop, for they make it possible for St. Hilary to receive proceeds from the shop every month. Cheers to those who shop there and bravo to those who donate items. Come visit us on Lower Ark Row. Anyone who wishes to work at the shop, call Beverly Ramblas at 435-0570.

Serve lunches for Needy & Homeless
at Kol Shofar at 215 Blackfield Dr. Tiburon.

We prepare meals, set up, cleanup and serve between 12 to 20 needy and homeless individuals on the first Sunday of each month.

We begin at 12:20 pm and are finished by 2:00 pm. As we have two teams, each volunteer participates 6 (not 12) times yearly on the first Sunday of every other month. This provides a relatively easy way to participate in a community outreach program close to home.

Phone Al Trimbach at 435-2544.
