Dear Saint Hilary Religious Education Families,
My name is Lisa Veto and I am pleased to be serving as the new Director of Religious Education at Saint Hilary Parish. I am delighted to be partnering with you to teach our young people about our Catholic faith and help prepare our children to receive the sacraments. I look forward to working with you and your children throughout this journey.
In order for your child to participate in our Religious Education program, you will need to complete an enrollment form. The enrollment form can be found by clicking on the link below.
If you are a returning Religious Education family, you will note that the fee structure is slightly different this year. In order to minimize the need to request additional amounts for various items throughout the year, we have included those amounts in the enrollment fee. We hope that this will make it simpler and more convenient for everyone.
For the 2011-2012 year, our religious education sessions will be held on Wednesdays, from 3:45-5:00 pm. In September, we will have a Welcome Night at which time you will learn more about our program, meet your child's Religious Education teacher and receive a calendar of important dates for the Religious Education year. Details about the Welcome Night will be forthcoming.

Junior High School Confirmation
The sacrament of Confirmation is received in the 8th grade. Students begin preparing to receive Confirmation in the 7th grade. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, 7th grade Religious Education students will prepare for this sacrament during their regular Wednesday Religious Education classes (no Sunday night classes for 7th grade Confirmation preparation). Saint Hilary School students in the 7th and 8th grade will prepare for this sacrament as part of their school Religion curriculum. 8th grade students who will be Confirmed in November 2011 will, however, continue to meet on Sunday evenings until the Confirmation Mass on November 6, 2011.
Anyone 18 years or over desiring to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is asked to contact the parish office at 415-435-1122. Signed forms are required from the parish for entry into the process.
Preparation for the sacrament is given by the Office for Religious Education and Youth Ministry and takes place at the Chancery Building, One Peter Yorke Way, in San Francisco. A one day initiation retreat model with an evening follow-up is provided. These are offered on various dates throughout the Winter/Spring season.
Two Classes are made available through the Archdiocese for adults wishing to prepare to receive Confirmation. These are held on one Saturday and one evening at the chancery office in San Francisco.
